JAM
CAMP: Black Hills Jam - Preserves Vol. 2
Incredible
sessions featuring epic guitar-duels and esoteric
jam explorations; this album flat-out rocks like the
rock experimentalists of the 60's and 70's but with
contemporary jam-band sensibilities. Hot!

"From
the northwest US, comes a experimental prog-acid-fusion-rock
explosion of talent... This is a great CD... Tons of jamming
and extended solos. "Black Hills Jam" reminds
me alot of Ozric Tentacles, Phish, and other "Jam
bands" such as The Greatful Dead, and OAR. Hell,
at times even reminds me of something that Bela Fleck
would do, or even some of the more experimental moments
in The Flower Kings musical catalogue... I cant speak
enough about the talent of this band. All band members
are a vital part, and each person completely OWNS their
instrument."

JAM
CAMP: Jam Camp
On
the debut release, Jam Camp's original four-piece
line-up explores sonic textures and establishes their
live-to-digital jam-session tradition. From blistering
solos to ambient atmospheres and acoustic reverie,
Jam Camp is the soundtrack for the Pacific Northwest.

"Seattle
based jazz rock outfit Jam Camp have released a wonderful
self-titled debut CD. David Broyles, Michael Smith, Jess
White and Joel Veatch have come together to create one
of the best jazz-rock releases to come out in years. It
varies from light acoustic melodies to breezy jazz to
electric guitar wizardry. The CD contains more than 52
minutes of instrumental material, providing the perfect
accompaniment to a good book and a cup of tea or coffee
on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It also sounds good turned
up loud when lying on the couch with a can of beer after
a hard day at work. Jam Camp is full of vim and vigor,
and strongly recommended."

PROG,
ROCK & JAM: Beyond Rock
Ranging
in style from Yes to Allan Holdsworth, Kate Bush,
King Crimson, and ELP; Beyond Rock is an exciting
progressive-rock/art-rock sampler featuring ten of
Seattle's most adventurous ensembles. A must for the
prog-rock enthusiast.

"Beyond
Rock is a collection of cuts by ten overachieving Pacific
Northwest bands, gathered onto a label that immediately
rivals the best of the indies... 71+ minutes of pure
pleasure and delight. This label REALLY knows how to
gather the right kind of music, not to mention some
of the best of its kind, it also knows how to present
it: the cover to this treasure trove is a phantasmagoric
Psychedelic Sistine Chapel In The Round (Square) by
Matthew Skenandore. I won't even try to describe it,
it has to be seen, but suffice it to sat that it's strikingly
reminiscent of what would happen if an
artist tried to marry trompe l'oiel with Robert Williams
"Barycenter". Mind blowing.
Needless
to say, this anthology is highly, highly, highly recommended.
No other compilation this strong, professional, imaginative
and thoroughly artistic comes to mind. And the engineering
on this is something Sterophile
and the high-end rags could well rhapsodize upon.
